- European Union: 2500 ha for 19.7 billion FCFA for 1150 exploiters
- Tomota Company: 100 000 ha, private farm
- Malibya Company: 50 years repeatable 100 000 ha free land for a private farm
So why so much fuss?
- Unawareness of the agricultural investment Convention
- Construction of a 40 km and 130m3 canal water supply by CGC (China) : Population eviction, destruction of houses and cemeteries, cultural heritage destruction

Actions, methods and resources
- Surveys, investigations and individual and collective interviews with the people and public administration officials and MALIBYA Company;
- Information retrieval enabled to have the Convention and the environmental study
- Organisation of seminars to exchange about problematic with the people, the administration and the Malibya Company
Achieved results
- Information to the people about the investment Convention signed between Mali and Libya in 2008 on the farming of 100 000 ha
- Accomplishment of an environmental study
- Publication of press articles mobilizing different actors concerned by the issue
- Mobilization of the people to be compensated by the State, responsible for the eviction
Difficulties encountered
- Access to information
- Excessive zeal of some dishonest public administration officials
- Vastness and enclosure of the country
- States’ weakness makes them vulnerable to pressure from the multinational companies
Action perspectives
- Pursuance of social mobilization and communities’ victims of ground rent expropriation organization
- Pursuance of negotiations with Malibya Company and the State for possible compensations for the evicted people
- Pursuance in developing right holders’ abilities in claiming their human rights to land
Recommendations
- Intensifying multi-actors seminars to develop different actors’ skills and to consolidate pressure on the right holders regarding the issue;
- Increased alliances both at a State level and within national and international civil society;
- Information on the jurisprudence cases for advocacy
